Anal lubricants: how to choose
Anal lubes are thicker and last longer than regular lubricants. Unlike the vagina, the anal canal does not produce its own moisture, so a lubricant is a must for any anal play — with fingers, toys or a partner.
What to look for
- Consistency. A thick gel stays in place and does not run. For a first experience, choose a denser texture.
- Base. Water-based lubes are compatible with all toys, including silicone ones, and wash off easily. Silicone lubes glide longer but are not suitable for silicone toys.
- Ingredients. Choose formulas without strong fragrances and with gentle components — the tissue in this area is sensitive.
- Condom compatibility. Water- and silicone-based lubes are safe with latex condoms; oil-based ones are not.
How to use
Apply lube to both the toy and the skin, use plenty and add more as needed. Go slowly and start small. Pain is a signal to stop, not something to push through. Use cooling or numbing products with care: they can mute your body's signals.
Care and storage
After use, wash toys with warm water and soap or a dedicated toy cleaner. Keep the bottle closed at room temperature.
